Emigrants' children, problems adopting

Emigrants' children, problems adopting
Only the Vasil Shanto secondary school has around 30 registered pupils coming from families of returned emigrants. Some of them have problems with language and their adaptation in schools and society.

The increased unemployment, mainly in Greece, has made many families to return in Albania after 15 or 20 years.

The Ministry of Education declared that more than 1200 children have demanded social support in schools. The Albanian language remains one of the biggest problems for them.

“The number of returned citizens who have registered their children in schools goes to 8373, including those who have been registered for the first time and those who are continuing education. Most of them are not born in Albania. They have difficulties in communication. We have decided to use additional language hours, until they’re on the right level”, declared Ndricim Mehmeti, head of the Quality Monitoring Sector at the Ministry of Education.
